About Us

Welcome to The Steamboat House Bed and Breakfast in Galena, IL.! We've welcomed guests from all over the country since 2000. We're the proud owners of a Gothic Revival historic mansion that has been lovingly restored and decorated with the utmost care. The inn has remained virtually unchanged structurally since 1855, and our guests enjoy its spacious parlors, formal dining room, billiard room, and sprawling covered front porch. We offer wine and cheese hours in the evenings. We're not far from the main street in our quaint little town of Galena, Illinois—a community where you'll find plenty of things to do during your stay with us. We strive to make your stay as magnificent as possible. This is why we've chosen this community—a quaint little town full of things to do during your trip. We look forward to partnering with our fellow Galena locals, and our travelers from, Chicago, Il., Des Moines, IA., Kansas City, MO., and everywhere in between. If you love quaint, nostalgic, and historic, this is the perfect place. Carol adds personal touches of a homemade breakfast served in the dining room, coffee at 7 am, wine & cheese at 5. She even had homemade cookies on our last night. Bedrooms are located on the 2nd floor & downtown is about a 1/2 mile walk.

Yes! A fresh, homemade breakfast is served daily at 9:00 AM in our elegant dining room, where all guests are invited to dine together. It’s a wonderful way to start the day and connect with fellow travelers.
